SANTO DOMINGO.– The National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD) reported that two people being investigated since October 2021 were arrested for their possible connection to the seizure of 60 kilos of cocaine inside several suitcases that left through Punta Cana International Airport, bound for Portugal.

The arrested were identified as the former DNCD agent, Leovanni Manuel Ubrí Guzmán, and Jasón Guzmán, a former private of the Air Force assigned to Cesac, who served in the check-in area of the Punta Cana International Airport, La Altagracia province. , for the indicated date.

While the passengers arrested in Portugal correspond to the Spanish Marlons Stevens Florian and the Dutch Miguelina Paulina, detained upon arrival in that country with suitcases full of drugs from the Dominican Republic, according to the official report.

The DNCD, in response to the arrest warrant, 05103-2022, issued by the Permanent Attention Court of the La Altagracia province, arrested the defendants in the vicinity of the Las Américas International Airport and in the Isabelina sector, municipality of Santo Domingo East.

“The Public Ministry and the DNCD continue to deepen the investigation to determine if there are others involved in this case, while the detainees will be brought to justice in the next few hours.”

Capturing both men is part of the intense efforts to monitor and broaden national and international cooperation in drug trafficking and related crimes.
