New Jersey.- The prominent and renowned political leader, Iris Alburquerque, suggested that the Ministry of Women and government authorities provide more excellent protection to Dominican women. Albuquerque described the femicides that have occurred in the country this year as alarming.

She recalled that many of these events occur because the victims file complaints from their husbands or spouses at the police stations, which often do not receive the corresponding attention.
She expressed that the competent authorities affirm: “These are problems between husband and wife; no one should interfere.”
She affirmed that in those moments, these tragedies occur that mourn family and leave orphaned children.

She estimated that immediate assistance would reduce the number of victims.
“The facts are consummated, leaving tears, sadness, and pain in the children and relatives of the victims, when the complaints are not heard, and immediate actions are not taken,” she said.

He said that many of these femicides could be avoided if physically abused women were assisted, providing them with natural protection, and giving them financial support to be able to continue living normally, given, as he observed, that dozens of these women remain with their executioners for financial support for their families.

Albuquerque suggested that the authorities give more protection to women punished by their husbands to reduce the high rate of deaths of defenseless women. At the same time, she demanded that those responsible for these acts be punished with jail.
