Santo Domingo, DR: The Cibao Savings and Loans Association (ACAP), as a sponsor of the new production company Pop Entertainment project, announced the premiere of the documentary “Renacer.”

During the press conference held at the Center’s Caribbean Cinemas VIP Lounge, it was reported that “Renacer” tells the story of Paralympic swimmer Patricio López, one of the ten best competitors in America in various swimming modalities.

Yara Hernández, Communication and Sustainability Manager of ACAP, expressed that “it is known that in the Cibao Association since 2019 we have been working to promote an inclusive approach through programs that promote institutional culture, with a vision aimed at establishing a design of all this , which ensures physical and commercial accessibility and the labor inclusion of people with disabilities, with equal opportunities”.

She explained that this is the second Pop Entertainment film project that ACAP supports as a sponsor and that “this time we have felt even more identified with their ideas because it is a testimony, a real-life story, with a lot of power.” with the potential to support us in the institutional objective of raising our voices to raise awareness about the barriers that prevent or limit the participation of people with disabilities in society.”

The premiere of the documentary written and directed by Tito Rodríguez, which was fully translated into sign language, is scheduled for March 23 at Caribbean Cinemas.

It was reported that after being presented in movie theaters, ACAP would take it free for a year through cultural centers and universities in the country in the different cities and provinces in which the Cibao Association has a commercial presence (National District and the from Santo Domingo, Santiago, Mao, La Vega, Moca, San Francisco de Macorís, Tenares, Bonao, Baní, La Romana and Bávaro.

Danilo Reynoso, producer and director of Pop Entertainment, stated: “we want more people to know and be inspired by this story; Patricio is an example, not only for athletes in special conditions, but for any human being.”

In this sense, Evelyna Rodríguez, executive producer, said that she “had a debt with the deaf community with which she has worked for 7 years, and this documentary was perfect to give a true message of inclusion.”

Likewise, Patricio López said, “I did not believe the documentary, but today I am happy that my story can reach and inspire others; swimming changed my life; inside the water I am another person.”

Patricio has participated in the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games and Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. In 2023, he seeks to secure a position in the 50-meter breaststroke, 150-meter medley, and 200-meter freestyle for the Paralympic World Cup. Cup, as well as the regulatory times to qualify for the next Pan American Games in Chile, and from there to the Paralympic Games in Paris 2024.
