McCarthy stated on Twitter on Saturday that he would dismiss Omar for her prior “anti-Semitic and anti-American statements.”On Monday, Omar responded.

Omar said in a statement that McCarty’s efforts to continuously single her out for disdain and hatred, including her threats to remove her from her committee, “do nothing to address the concerns our people suffer with.”

“It further divides us along racial and ethnic lines by inciting fear and hate against Somali Americans and everyone who shares my ethnicity. It is an extension of a long-running campaign against Muslim and African voices that his party had waged against them ever before Donald Trump first announced his candidacy.”

Democrats would need a vote of a majority of the House, which Republicans will narrowly control starting in January, to be removed from their committee assignments.
Schiff, a member of the Jan. 6 select committee and the main House manager during then-President Trump’s first impeachment trial, called McCarthy a “very weak leader.”

According to Schiff, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., among other GOP legislators, is being used as a pawn by McCarthy.

According to Schiff, “He will follow the desires of the lowest common denominator.” “And if that group with the lowest common denominator wants to kick people off committees, they’ll do it. With Republicans in charge, there will be anarchy.”Omar, Schiff, McCarty, remove, house, committees. Democrats Attack on McCarthy for Committee Removals Includes Omar and Schiff

During Trump’s second impeachment hearing, Swalwell, an impeachment manager, was questioned by NBC News regarding the pledge made by the Republican leader.

If Kevin McCarthy is elected speaker, “talk to me,” Swalwell urged.

The House voted along party lines in February 2021 to remove Greene’s committee assignments as a rebuke for espousing allegedly extremist beliefs under outgoing Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

McCarthy has stated that when the GOP is in power, Greene will be sent to the committees of her choice, according to The Washington Post.
