Santo Domingo, DR: The authorities seized 419 packages of a substance, presumably cocaine, from Colombia during an inspection at the Caucedo Multimodal Port in Boca Chica, Santo Domingo, reported this Sunday, the National Directorate for Drug Control (DNCD).

The agents of the anti-drug agency, together with the military and canine units, carried out verification work on dozens of containers that arrived at the port above the terminal from Colombia when they noticed strange substances in one of them, immediately initiating the action protocol.

In the presence of a prosecutor, they opened the container, loaded with hundreds of bags of coffee, among which were camouflaged 12 black packages, inside which were found 419 boxes of the substance covered with adhesive tape of different colors. , indicated the DNCD in a press release.

As established in the cargo manifest, the coffee bean bags were in transit through the country, and their final destination would be Belgium.

The Public Ministry and the DNCD have initiated an investigation. At the same time, it is expected that, as the process progresses, more details will be offered concerning the frustrated international drug trafficking operation.

The note highlights that, by instruction of the acting prosecutor, one of the substance packages was randomly chosen. After being subjected to a field test, she was positive for cocaine hydrochloride.

The 419 packages seized in this new operation were sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif), which will determine the exact type and weight of the substance in its analysis.
