SANTO DOMINGO.- The Permanent Attention Court of the National District judge, Kenia Romero, recessed for this Friday the knowledge of the measure of coercion against the more than 20 accused in Operation Squid carried by the Public Ministry.

The decision was adopted after almost 10 hours, in which the representatives of the Public Ministry read the file requesting the measure against the prosecutable.

In the case, the former Minister of Public Works and candidate for the presidency in the 2020 elections, Gonzalo Castillo, is accused; José Ramón Peralta, former Administrative Minister of the Presidency; and Donald Guerrero, from the Treasury.

Other defendants are former Comptroller General of the Republic, Daniel Omar Caamaño; the former director of the State Sugar Council (CEA), Luis Miguel Piccirilo; former director of the National Cadastre, Claudio Silver Peña, the lawyer Ángel Lockward and the former directors of Casinos and Gambling, Oscar Chalas Guerrero and Julián Omar Fernández.

Likewise, Roberto Santiago Moquete, Agustín Mejía Ávila, Emir Fernández de Paola, Marcial Reyes, Alejandro Constanzo, Yahaira Brito Encarnación, Ana Linda Fernández, Aldo Antonio Gerbasi, Ramón David Hernández, Víctor Matías Encarnación, and Rafael Parmenio Rodríguez will appear before the court. The accusing body requests 18 months of preventive detention against those involved in the case and that it be declared a complex.
