Washington DC- US President Joe Biden and his Dominican counterpart, Luis Abinader, met this Thursday for an hour in the Oval Room of the White House.
The leaders addressed different topics of interest to both countries, especially regarding bilateral relations.
They also reviewed various topics that concern the region. The Dominican president took the opportunity to invite him to the Summit of the Americas, to be held in the country in 2025.
President Biden recognized that relations between the United States and the Dominican Republic were at their best.
The US president expressed to President Abinader the interest of the United States in working with the Dominican Republic jointly on various aspects of common interest.
They also addressed the issue of corruption and drug trafficking, in which Biden valued the progress that President Abinader’s Government has made in this area.
The president was accompanied by the ministers of Foreign Affairs, Roberto Álvarez, Finance, Jochi Vicente, and Ambassador Sonia Guzmán.
Other members of the Dominican delegation accompanying President Abinader on this visit to Washington are Vice Ministers Hugo Rivera, Anselmo Muñiz and Johannes Kelner.
Also, his assistants, Lourdes Herrera, Eilyn Beltrán, Daniel García Archibald, the Press Director of the President and the Director of Protocol of the Foreign Ministry, Francisco Cantizano.
