Despite signs that the Colorado Republican Representative Lauren Boebert’s reelection bid might require a recount following state law, she declared victory on Friday.

“We won! I am incredibly appreciative of your support, and I am honored to serve as your representative.” Boebert tweeted something.

“I’m told less than 200 votes are outstanding,” she added in a video clip posted alongside the statement. “This makes me thrilled to report we have won this contest.”

As of Friday morning, the day before the deadline for the release of the final results, Newsmax elections research reveals that Boebert is ahead of rival Adam Frisch by 163,758 votes to 163,207, or about 0.16% of the vote.

Colorado election law states, “Any election contest must be subject to a recount if the difference between the greatest number of votes cast therein and the next highest number of votes cast therein is less than or equal to one-half of one percent of the highest vote cast therein.”

Boebert acknowledged the likelihood of a recount but asserted that “previous Colorado recounts have resulted in far fewer votes being changed than anything that might affect the current outcome we’re witnessing tonight in this race.”
