Senate unanimously approves the withdrawal of the bill on Migrant Smuggling.

SANTO DOMINGO.- Accepting a petition presented by the Executive Branch after it was questioned, the Senate of the Republic unanimously approved the withdrawal of the comprehensive bill on Trafficking in Persons, Exploitation, and Smuggling of Migrants.

Likewise, the Senate decided to remove the study of this initiative from the Commission of the Interior and Police and Citizen Security of that chamber, chaired by Senator Virgilio Cedano Cedano.

The decision was made with the favorable votes of the 26 senators present.

Previously, Senator Dionis Sánchez, spokesman for the block of senators of the People’s Force, asked the plenary session, accepting what the regulations establish, that the request to withdraw the piece be submitted to the entire session, as well as that the chamber of the Chamber Alta had previously considered it and referred the study.
