NEW YORK: This Sunday, March 5, 2023, three simultaneous masses are convened in churches in Upper Manhattan (New York), Miami, and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, in memory of radio host Rafael Corporán de los Santos to commemorate the 11th anniversary of his death.
The deceased was born on July 15, 1939, and died on March 5, 2012, after losing the battle against cancer, leaving an indelible legacy of social struggle, successful entrepreneurship, and an ethereal footprint as a radio host, producer, and television presenter.
He also dedicated himself through the media platforms he created and led to social work for the benefit of thousands of low-income people throughout the Dominican Republic.
He was also elected mayor of Santo Domingo.
The religious services scheduled for 9:00 in the morning will take place in the parishes of San Felipe Dácono, located at the corner of Avenida México and Salcedo in the San Carlos sector in Santo Domingo, Iglesia Presbiteriana de San Jorge in 1525 San Nicolás Avenue and 186th Street in Upper Manhattan and the Mission Nuestra Señora de La Altagracia temple located at 1795 NW and 28th Street 33143 in the Allapatah neighborhood, in front of Juan Pablo Duarte Park in Miami, Florida.
Marketer Elías Barreras Corporán, director of public relations for the consulate general in New York and spokesman for the family, said last night that all the relatives of Corporán de los Santos had met to organize, convene and be present with the Dominican communities in the Republic Dominican, New York, and Miami in religious memorials in honor of his uncle.
He urged all Dominicans in the Caribbean country and abroad to massively attend all the masses to pay homage to the Corporán de los Santos, whose name is immortalized next to the 176th street sign in the United Palace Theater area in Upper Manhattan. . , New York, on whose stage he was several times.
In addition to Barreras Corporán, the masses are organized by the widow Adalgisa Báez Serrano (Grisel) and Rafael Corporán Quezada Junior (Corporancito) together with the whole family.
Elías remembered that his uncle came out of extreme poverty and made money, fortune, and fame based on sacrifices and talent.
“He distributed part of his fortune among those who had the philosophy that what he liked to do the most was serve others,” added Barreras Corporán.
