Santo Domingo, Dr. The Fourth Collegiate Court of the National District set for April 25 the substantive trial against Fausto Miguel de Jesús Cruz de la Mota, accused of the murder of the former Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, Orlando Jorge Mera.
The court, chaired by Keila Pérez Santana, and made up of Elías Santini Perera and Arisleida Méndez Batista, set a hearing for that day at 9:00 in the morning.
The judges were empowered after the Court of Attention of the National District issued an order to open the trial against the accused.
Fausto Miguel de Jesús Cruz de la Mota is being held in the Najayo prison after Judge Rigoberto Sena Ferreras of the permanent attention court issued preventive pressure against him in June 2022.
Murder
The Minister of the Environment and Natural Resources of the Dominican Republic, Orlando Jorge Mera, died on Monday, June 7, 2022, at 55 after being shot in his office by Cruz.
According to the information handled by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the attacker, Miguel Cruz, 56, shot at someone he has known for more than two decades without prior weapons registration.
