President Luis Abinader reported that in July of this year, the tender for the construction of the “Greater Santo Domingo Metropolitan Train” will be opened.
The president took advantage of his participation in the ‘Business Future of the Americas’ at the American Chamber of Commerce to announce the formal start of this work.
He explained that the new National Railway System will be carried out through a tender that will be a public-private alliance.
He explained that in its first stage, the Metropolitan Train of Greater Santo Domingo will go from the John F. Kennedy Metro station with the Máximo Gómez to the Charles de Gaulle in the first section.
Then it will be integrated into the Las Américas International Airport extension.
He announced that the start of work on this project is scheduled for the first quarter of next year.
Along with this announcement, the head of state compiled all the works the central government has carried out among them, highlighting public transport, road, and technological works, among others.
In addition, he cited the growth of foreign investment, the country’s economy, and tourism.
Abinader also emphasized that some questioned his modernization projects in the Dominican Republic and said that “they were unrealizable.”
“When I talked about the Pedernales-Cabo Rojo Development Plan, there were doubts,” he said.
At the end of his speech, he said, “the best Dominican Republic is yet to come, and we are building it together.”
