SANTO DOMINGO.-The National Health Service (SNS) suspended from their functions the director of the San Lorenzo de Los Mina Maternal and Child Hospital, Leonel Aquino, and the person in charge of Perinatology, Dagne Sánchez, after the scandal that broke out over the death of 34 newborns in February at the health center, due to a supposed “outbreak of infection.”
The information was offered by the director of the SNS, Mario Lama, during a press conference called to refer to the death of the infants, which developed a health crisis in the hospital mentioned above.
Dagne Sáchez’s suspension comes 48 hours after the Maternal Child and Adolescent director of the National Health Service (SNS), Martín Ortiz García, assured that this address would state to clear her name.
“I think that later a communication will have to be made clearing her name, because it is very easy to speak and then it stays that way,” said Ortiz García.
It is recalled that the report N Investigación Periodística revealed that Dagne Sánchez was appointed in charge of the perinatology area of the Maternidad de Los Mina without having obtained in the contest through which the positions were assigned.
