New York: The opposition political spectrum of the Dominican diaspora in the US has just entered a new and complex stage related to the pre-candidates for representatives from abroad, especially from the opposition party Fuerza del Pueblo (FP) led by the former Dominican resident, Leonel Fernández and a coalition of developing party organizations that already has 14 entities.
Among all the political parties, there are already more than 50 pre-candidates for the position of overseas deputies. That is to say, there are already many more heads than hats for an unknown status for the diaspora, although it has existed since 2010.
Dr. Yomare Polanco has just defined his political future by entering the electoral arena through the Institutional Democratic Party (PDI), led by Ismael Reyes; he is also president of “The Coalition of Minority Parties that accumulates a total of more than 14 political parties. This coalition is expected to join the Fuerza del Pueblo in the 2024 elections.”
Dr. Yomare Polanco had a super busy weekend in two ways: first, evaluating the political assets of the PDI and second, contacting its state coordinators, leaders, and political strategists, as it should be after a radical change in the acronym of the game.
Based on these two evaluations, we will see an indomitable Polanco, unbeatable as an atypical politician, who was able to almost triple the number of votes obtained by the PLD presidential candidate, Gonzalo Castillo, in the 2020 elections when Yomare ran for deputy. Overseas, elections that he won were stolen with a notorious electoral fraud.
Many people, in their intention to detract from Dr. Polanco’s political merits, blushed when I wrote that he is the greatest political asset that the diaspora has; I maintain that postulate based on the fact that all the political parties have made him affiliated with offers, so it is undeniable that the more than 15 thousand votes he got and the 5,667 that randomly annulled, burned and disappeared, confirm my thesis about him. Suppose Dominican elections are held in the US. In that case, Dr. Yomare Polanco is assured of his candidacy as overseas deputy, regardless of the party acronym that represents him, because what happened in 2020 showed that he has a hard vote outside of the party spectrum.
