Santo Domingo, DR: The deputy prosecutor and prosecution director of the Public Ministry, Yeni Berenice Reynoso, assured that the case of Operation Squid had been the most complex case she handled due to how it operated.
“This process, this network that touched public assets in an unprecedented way in the history of the country, up to now is the most complex case, of how it worked, of how different officials from the State coalesced to divert millionaire funds from the public patrimony,” said the director.

She also indicated that it is practically imminent that the case against several former officials of the past government administration, including a former candidate for the presidency, will not be declared complex.
“There is no way it would not be declared complex. What we can tell you is that it is a complex investigation. It is an accusation that is important that people, before evaluating it, take, at least, the responsibility of reading it, of seeing the charges that are in the process charged in this case, “said the deputy attorney.

Berenice Reynoso emphasized the standards taken into account to carry out the operation launched last Saturday night, through which at least 40 raids were carried out in different parts of the country.
“This is a process in which the Public Ministry has been conducting a thorough investigation for several months in accordance with the highest standards of investigation for the organized crime network, because this case is about an organized crime network that is rarely seen in the region,” said the magistrate.
