COE raises to 29 the number of provinces on alert for the effects of a potential tropical cyclone

SANTO DOMINGO.-The Emergency Operations Center (COE) placed 29 provinces on alert due to a tropical disturbance located over the eastern portion of Cuba, generating heavy downpours, electrical storms and gusts of wind.

Pedernales, Barahona, San José de Ocoa, Elías Piña, Independencia, San Juan, Azua and Bahoruco are on red alert.

While on yellow alert are Santo Domingo, Distrito Nacional, Peravia, Dajabón, La Vega, María Trinidad Sánchez, Hato Mayor, Duarte, San Pedro de Macorís, Monseñor Nouel, Espaillat, San Cristóbal, Sánchez Ramírez, Monte Plata, Samaná and El Seibo. And La Romana.

The provinces on green alert are Hermanas Mirabal, Santiago Rodríguez, Santiago de los Caballeros and La Altagracia.

The COE recommends that citizens refrain from crossing rivers, streams and ravines with high water flows and not use spas in the provinces on alert.
