President Abinader starts energy projects for 2,470 million in Montecristi.

Montecristi. – President Luis Abinader began this Saturday in Manzanillo the construction of three power plants and a gas terminal, with which there will be an investment of 2,470 million dollars to provide the system with some 1,254 megawatts of energy. On Friday, the president began work on one of the two plants, with 420 megawatts each, and a gas terminal, with an investment of more than 1.75 billion dollars, which the Ministry of Energy and Mines tendered.

The project is designed in two blocks; the first consisting of the gas terminal and a 420 megawatt combined cycle gas turbine plant, awarded to Manzanillo Gas & Power, a consortium made up of Haina Investment Company (HIC), Shell Gas & Power Development (Shell) and Energía de Americas (OVERALL).

The second block will install a 420 megawatt combined cycle gas turbine plant, awarded to Manzanillo Energy, comprised of “Coastal Dominicana,” Manzanillo Energy, and Lindsay. The project also contemplates the construction of a gas pipeline with a length of 7.2 kilometers that will carry natural gas from the Port of Manzanillo to the generation plant. On Saturday, the president traveled to Pepillo Salcedo, where construction work began on the 414-megawatt Manzanillo Power Land thermoelectric generation plant, with an approximate private investment of $585,500, developed by the company Energía 2000.
