Jersey, New The Newark field office of the FBI acknowledged receiving “credible information of a widespread threat to synagogues in NJ” on Thursday afternoon.
The office stated in a tweet “At this time, we request that you take all necessary security measures to safeguard your neighborhood and facility. As soon as we can, we will make more information available. Be on guard. If there is a crisis, call the police.”

The American Jewish Committee tweeted, “We are extremely disturbed by @FBI allegations of a credible threat to synagogues in New Jersey.” “Right now, our thoughts are with the local Jewish community. We’ll keep an eye on the situation as it changes.”

Gov. Phil Murphy of New Jersey stated, “We are closely monitoring the situation and are working with local law enforcement to ensure that all houses of worship are safeguarded.
Additionally, the NYPD disclosed on Thursday that its Counterterrorism and Intelligence Bureaus are collaborating with the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force to protect synagogues in New York City and the tri-state region.
