Three days before the incident in Virginia, five people were killed in a shooting at a gay nightclub in Colorado Springs.
One of the store’s employees opened fire inside a Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia, on Tuesday night, killing six people before turning the gun on himself, according to the Chesapeake Police Department.
The male employee used a firearm in the attack, which left four other people hospitalized, Chesapeake Police Chief Mark Solesky told reporters Wednesday morning.
Although their circumstances are now unclear, authorities feel there is “no concern to the public at this moment” after a SWAT team searched the person’s residence, Solesky added.
Police claim they have not yet reached the victim’s next of kin; therefore, the employee’s identity is unknown. According to officials, he was unknown to law enforcement before the shooting. He shot himself in the head, according to the police.
Solesky stated that the probe was still ongoing. “We will need days to process that scene,”
The police chief made his remarks after a video surfaced in which an employee claimed that the store manager was responsible for the horrific shooting.

At 10:12 p.m., Chesapeake police said they responded to an “active shooter” report at the business on Battlefield Blvd. Leo Kosinski, a spokesman for the Chesapeake Police Department, stated that when officers arrived, they worked with a tactical squad to enter the store, where they discovered numerous bodies.
