This Thursday afternoon, there was a violent incident at the Industrial Development Corporation (Codevi), located in the Haitian city of Juana Méndez, on the border with the province of Dajabón.
According to preliminary information, the altercation in the free zone complex injured several people.
So far, the reasons that could have triggered the brawl are unknown.
The version used in the area, which is militarized, is that the conflict began with “a mob” that caused disorder, smashing windows, and detonations that spread panic inside the infrastructure.
The situation forced the evacuation of all the Dominican personnel who worked there.
A military contingent of the Dominican Army is in the surroundings of the free zone to intervene if necessary.
