His demand arose after the Diario Libre published a report on Monday on practices considered unfair competition that these businesses are committing, including undervaluing imported products and the incursion into the sale of hardware and lighting.

José Antonio Álvarez, president of the National Association of Importers (ANI), requested that compliance with the entry of the employees of said establishments to Social Security, the payment of the minimum wage, and their working conditions and hours be monitored.

“If I am not declaring sales, if I have employees who are not in the TSS (Social Security Treasury), if I do not have fiscal printers, (they) are totally competing in an unfair environment and with all the advantages, because they do not have obligations, and that is part of what is identified with these businesses,” Álvarez told Diario Libre.

Ángelo Viro, vice president of the ANI, opined on his side that the Chinese “are the magician Merlin: that” suddenly they arrive in a country and all of us who have been here for decades do not know anything about trade?

He said that local merchants are concerned that the Chinese will appear in conspicuous places and nothing will happen.
